Mimi just finished up five weeks of summer camp upstate with my parents at the Southern Saratoga YMCA. After a few hours of camp in the morning, Mimi would come home for lunch and then go back to the YMCA for a double session of swimming lessons. She loved camp and really enjoyed swimming lessons. By the end, Mimi was jumping in the water and doggy paddling without a floaty or bubble!
I came to visit one of the weeks. Every week there is a theme and the week I was there it was the Olympics. Every day the class does a craft in line with the theme of the week and then on Friday the kids bring home all of the crafts they made. For the Olympics, Mimi made an Olive Leaf, Olympic torch, and German flag. She got new sneakers at the beginning of the summer when we were visiting my sister, Kimbie, in Boston. They were for school in the fall but she liked them so much she wore them every day to camp. I think it’s because of the rainbow shoe laces she picked out!
Mimi would hang her backpack on the shelf before walking into the classroom. She had sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, and a water bottle in her bag.
Parents (and Grandparents) would sign up to bring snack. My mom signed up for Monday, August 23.
One day that week Mimi got to take home Clifford and Cherry, the camp’s two red dog stuffed animals. She spent the day with them and we took pictures and wrote down what they did together in the notebook to share with the class the next day.
I’m super thankful my parents took care of Mimi while she was at camp. It gave me a little break and some quality time with Isabella. Isabella really missed her big sister and we are all happy she is back home!
